How Long Should a Disposable Vape Last You?

Disposable vapes are the most popular vaping devices on the market today – and without a doubt, they’re the most convenient vapes as well. One issue with disposable vapes, though, is that it can be difficult to keep track of exactly how much money you’re spending when you use them. Disposables are cheap on a per-device basis, but they’re not so affordable in the long run if you’re buying a new device every couple of days. So, how long should a disposable vape actually last? That’s the topic we’re going to cover in this guide – and as you’re about to learn, the answer is fairly complicated because manufacturers don’t rate their devices according to a universal set of standards.

We’ll begin this guide by examining the thing that’s always on the front of the box: the puff count. Next, though, we’ll explain why that’s not necessarily the most important aspect of a disposable vape’s specs if you want to know how long the device will last.

Start by Looking at a Disposable Vape’s Puff Count

When you look at a disposable vape’s box, one of the first things you’ll always see is the device’s advertised puff count. When disposable vapes first began to experience massive mainstream success in the early 2020s, It was typical for a device to last around 200-400 puffs. Today, though, we’ve begun to see devices with advertised capacities of 25,000 puffs and even more. That’s pretty amazing when you think about it. If you consider the fact that an average cigarette lasts around 15 puffs, that means a disposable vape with 25,000 puffs is the equivalent of about 1,666 cigarettes. Wow – that’s more than eight cartons!

In practice, though, you’re not likely to get the equivalent of eight cartons of cigarettes out of even the longest-lasting disposable vape. That’s the case for three reasons.

  • A disposable vape’s advertised puff count is based on the assumption that your average puff will be just one second long. Time your puffs the next time you use a disposable vape. Are they a second long, or are they actually much longer than that? If your puffs are longer than one second, you’ll need to cut the expected puff count accordingly.
  • For a variety of reasons – better flavor and lack of harshness, for instance – some people end up vaping more than they would have smoked. We’ll discuss that at greater length when we bring this article to a close.
  • Some manufacturers seem to exaggerate the capabilities of their devices to a certain extent. We’ll talk about that next.

Compare Vapes by How Much E-Liquid They Have

One of the problems with puff counts on disposable vapes is that there’s no universal standard for what duration or volume of vapor actually constitutes a puff. There’s also no universal testing regimen for disposable vapes. Some manufacturers use automatic smoking machines to measure their devices’ capabilities, but that’s not required. Many manufacturers probably just guess – and some exaggerate a bit because they know nobody is actually going to tally 25,000 puffs with a pencil and paper.

There’s one thing, though, that a manufacturer can’t exaggerate: the amount of e-liquid in the device. Suppose you’re looking at two disposable vapes that both contain 15 ml of vape juice. One of the devices is advertised to last 10,000 puffs, and the other says “25,000 puffs” on the box. There may be some discrepancy between two devices’ puff counts if one produces larger clouds than the other. It’s more likely, though, that the “25,000-puff” device isn’t actually going to produce anywhere near that number of puffs.

So, if you really want to compare two disposable vapes in terms of how long they’ll last, look at how much vape juice is in the devices because, assuming the vapes are authentic, there’s no way to exaggerate that. Don’t forget to buy your vapes from a reliable vape shop, though, because makers of fake vapes can and do lie about everything – including how much e-liquid the devices contain.

Some Disposable Vapes Cut Costs with Reusable Components

There are hundreds of different disposable vapes on the market today, and manufacturers are trying everything possible in order to differentiate their products and make them stand out. Off Stamp disposable vapes, for instance, come with a reusable charging pack that reduces the future cost of using the device. The charging pack has most of the device’s complex electronics, and it charges the Off Stamp device when you connect it magnetically. You only need to buy the Off Stamp kit once. After that, you can buy the smaller and less expensive devices, and you can charge them with your battery pack.

Put It All Together with Some Simple Math

When you look for information about how long a disposable vape should last you, what you really want to know is how much you should be spending to vape and whether the amount you’re currently paying is fair. To find out how much you’re spending on disposable vapes, all that you need to do is divide the amount that you pay per device by how many days you use the device before replacing it. That’s how much you pay per day to vape, and that’s the only statistic that really matters. Track your numbers for different brands and models, and you’ll learn which one is most economical for you.

How Can You Make a Disposable Vape Last Longer?

The last thing you need to know about disposable vapes is that how long a device should last isn’t a fixed number; it depends largely on your personal vaping habits. As we mentioned above, the fact that disposable vapes are smoother and taste better than cigarettes leads some people to vape more often than they would have smoked. A disposable vape also doesn’t limit your sessions automatically by burning out like cigarettes do. Because of those factors, some people end up vaping almost non-stop during the day because it’s enjoyable and keeps them busy. If you do that, your disposable vapes are going to run out of e-liquid very quickly.

Track your usage carefully and do your best not to vape unless you really do need the nicotine. If you only vape when you would have smoked a cigarette, your vapes will last noticeably longer before you need to replace them.
